Jordan Pacheco’s three hits not enough for Flock to overcome early deficit

(Lancaster, Pa., July 21, 2017) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Lancaster Barnstormers 5-1 on Friday night in the opener of a three-game series at Clipper Magazine Stadium.

Lancaster plated three runs in the second inning against Ducks starter Rafael Perez. Cole Garner’s solo home run to center field, an RBI double by Anderson De La Rosa and an RBI single by Beau Amaral did the damage.

Long Island cracked the scoreboard in the fourth when Jordan Pacheco hit an opposite-field solo homer to right off Barnstormers starter Jarret Leverett. However, another RBI double by De La Rosa in the bottom of the inning made it a 4-1 game. Rico Noel rounded out the scoring with a solo homer to right in the seventh.

Leverett (6-5) earned the win with six innings of one-run ball, allowing five hits and a walk while striking out two. Perez (6-6) took the loss, yielding four runs on seven hits and two walks in four innings with two strikeouts.

Pacheco led the Flock offensively with three hits.

The Ducks and Barnstormers continue their three-game set on Saturday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. from Clipper Magazine Stadium. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full season ticket holders).
