The Patriots jumped out in front with a five-run first inning off Ducks starter Dan Meyer. Jake Fox hit a three-run homer, and Dan DeGeorge added a two-run shot in the inning. Three more runs came across in the following inning on a two-run triple by Freddie Bynum and a RBI sacrifice fly by Fox to increase the lead to 8-0.

The Ducks would get on the scoreboard with a run-scoring error in the bottom of the third. Reid Gorecki connected for a two-out, two-run single in the fourth off Patriots starter Derell McCall to cut the deficit to 8-3, but that was all the offense could muster.

McCall (3-4) picked up the win, tossing six innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits with five strikeouts. Meyer (2-6) suffered the loss after lasting just one and one-third innings, allowing eight runs on six hits and two walks.

Kraig Binick paced the Flock with two hits, while Gorecki added two RBI.
