Bridgeport struck for a run in the opening inning on a wild pitch by Ducks starter Mark Rogers that scored Ethan Chapman. Long Island answered in the bottom of the frame on Jon Griffin’s sacrifice fly to center off of Bluefish starter Reinaldo Lopez.

The Bluefish regained the lead in the second on Matt Burns’ RBI double, but a sac fly to left off the bat of Lew Ford in the third evened the score at two. The Ducks took their first lead in the bottom of the fourth on Dan Lyons’ three-run home run to left field. After a run for the ‘Fish in the top of the fifth, Long Island scored three more times in the bottom of the inning, extending their advantage to 8-3. Reegie Corona’s two-run double, and Prentice Redman’s RBI single did the damage.

Bruce Kern (3-1) collected the win after pitching two innings of relief, allowing a run on two hits while striking out three. Lopez (0-3) suffered the loss, surrendering five runs on seven hits and one walk in four innings. Rogers did not factor into the decision but tossed four innings, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks while striking out five.

Every Ducks batter reached base in the game. Corona led the Flock with three hits, while Redman, Mike Blanke and Bryan Sabatella each added two.
