Hundreds of fans pack Duck Club to celebrate fourth championship in franchise history
(Central Islip, N.Y., Oct. 8, 2019) – The Long Island Ducks hosted a celebration in recognition of their 2019 Atlantic League Championship on Tuesday, October 8, at Bethpage Ballpark.
The celebration was held in the Duck Club restaurant and bar on the suite level at the ballpark. Several hundred fans packed in to enjoy the festivities and celebrate with the Flock. NEW Atlantic League Championship merchandise was on sale for the first time at this exclusive presale event. Complimentary light snacks were provided, courtesy of Centerplate, along with a cash bar featuring discounted drink prices.
Fans were able to take photos with the 2019 Atlantic League Championship trophy, along with the Ducks three other championship trophies (2004, 2012 and 2013). Some of the key members from the Atlantic League champion Ducks were also on hand to discuss the team’s memorable 20th Anniversary Season and run to the title. Included were Founder/CEO Frank Boulton, President/GM Michael Pfaff, Manager Wally Backman, Outfielder and Hitting Coach Lew Ford, Baseball Legend Bud Harrelson, Pitchers Rob Rogers, Felix Carvallo, Anderson DeLeon and Brandon Sherman, and Catcher Nick Garland.
The Ducks clinched their fourth Atlantic League Championship on Sunday, October 6, when they defeated the Sugar Land Skeeters 8-4 in Game Five of the Atlantic League Championship Series at Constellation Field. Long Island won the series three games to two, splitting two games at Bethpage Ballpark before rallying from a 2-1 series deficit to claim the title. It marked the Ducks third Atlantic League Championship in the past eight seasons and first since 2013.
