The Ducks plated three runs in the opening inning against Bluefish starter Kelvin Castro on bases loaded walks to Adam Bailey, Cody Puckett and Evan Crawford. Bridgeport pulled within one in the bottom of the second on a two-run home run to left by J.R. Towles off Ducks starter Jared Lansford.

Long Island responded with a six-run third inning to take a 9-2 lead. RBI singles by Puckett and Brendan Harris, a two-run single from Fehlandt Lentini, a RBI double by Lew Ford and a run-scoring wild pitch highlighted the inning. Bailey’s two-out RBI double to center in the sixth extended the advantage to eight.

Bridgeport closed to within four runs with a four-spot in the sixth. RBI singles by Prentice Redman and Casper Wells, a RBI fielder’s choice off the bat of Ramon Castro and a run-scoring error did the damage. However, a solo homer to left by Brendan Harris and a RBI single to center by Joash Brodin in the eighth put the game out of reach.

Lansford (6-4) picked up the win, tossing six innings, allowing six runs (four earned) on six hits and a walk while striking out four. Castro (0-1) suffered the loss, surrendering six runs on five hits and five walks with three strikeouts in two and one-third innings.

Every Ducks starter reached base safely in the game. Ford led the Flock with four hits, three of which were doubles, and scored three times. Harris added three hits, two RBI and three runs.

The Ducks return home on Thursday night to kick off a four-game series against the Somerset Patriots. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 6:05. The first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive Back to School Notebooks, courtesy of Dantona Industries. Right-hander Shaun Garceau takes the mound for the Ducks against Patriots righty David Harden.
