Join the fight against hunger on Long Island
(Central Islip, N.Y., April 1, 2014) – The Long Island Ducks today announced that they have teamed up once again with Long Island Cares, Inc. – The Harry Chapin Food Bank in 2014. For the fifth consecutive year, the Ducks will host food drives during all Sunday home games to raise awareness of hunger and food insecurity in local communities.
“This is an outstanding opportunity for our organization to continue our partnership with the Long Island Ducks and to reach even more people who might want to help us in our efforts to feed and support our neighbors in need,” said Executive Director of Long Island Cares, Inc. Paule Patcher. “We are extremely grateful to the Ducks’ management for sharing our vision by offering us so many opportunities to increase public awareness about hunger in our region that continues to be felt by more than 320,000 people in our local communities.”
Fans are encouraged to bring donations of non-perishable food items to every Sunday home game at Bethpage Ballpark during the 2014 season.
