Long Island drops swing game of series
(Central Islip, N.Y., July 22, 2015) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the York Revolution 4-1 on Wednesday night in the third game of a four-game series at Bethpage Ballpark.

York jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a first inning two-run home run to right field by Brandon Boggs off of Ducks starter Billy Buckner. Eric Patterson’s RBI single to center in the third and a RBI single to center by Mikey Reynolds extended the advantage to four. Long Island plated a run in the ninth on a run-scoring groundout to first by Delta Cleary, Jr., but they could not inch closer.
Revolution starter Frank Gailey (2-2) earned the win, tossing seven scoreless innings, allowing just three hits while striking out 10. Buckner (7-2) suffered the loss, yielding four runs on eight hits and four walks with two strikeouts in five and two-thirds innings.
The Ducks wrap up their four-game series with the Revolution on Thursday night. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at a special time of 4:45 for a pre-game charity softball game between the Oyster Bay Police Department and QSAC (Quality Services for the Autism Community). The first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive Ducks Logo Caps, courtesy of People’s Alliance Federal Credit Union. It’s also a Thirsty Thursday at the ballpark, and the Duck Club Restaurant/Bar, normally reserved for VIP/Season Ticket Holders only, will be open to all fans during the game. Right-hander Ian Marshall gets the start for the Ducks against Revolution southpaw Logan Williamson.

Duck Tales: Patrick Crider tossed a scoreless inning of relief in the game. The southpaw has now surrendered just two runs in his last 12 outings, posting a 1.59 ERA in that span. In 11 and one-third innings during those 12 games, he has given up only six hits and six walks while striking out 10 batters…Bryan Sabatella stole his team-leading 22nd base of the season when he swiped second in the ninth inning. The Long Island native ranks second in the league in steals, trailing Bridgeport’s Welington Dotel by six. As a team, the Ducks have stolen 86 bases this year, which is second-most in the Atlantic League behind Bridgeport (91)…Wednesday’s crowd of 7,067 was the Ducks’ third-highest of the season. Long Island welcomed crowds of 7,443 on July 4 and 7,087 on July 2. The Ducks have now hosted seven sold out crowds this season and 646 all-time, an Atlantic League record. Since the inaugural 2000 season, a total of 6,492,414 fans have come through the gates of Bethpage Ballpark, which is also a league record. In addition, the Flock currently lead the Atlantic League in average attendance this season at 5,169 fans per game.
