Long Island racks up seven runs, 14 hits to win third in a row

(York, Pa., May 3, 2017) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the York Revolution 7-2 on Wednesday afternoon in the opener of a day/night doubleheader and third game of a four-game series at PeoplesBank Park.

Both teams traded single runs in each of the first two innings. An RBI single from Marc Krauss put the Ducks ahead in the first, but a wild pitch by Ducks starter Dennis O’Grady in the bottom of the inning scored Derrick Robinson to tie the game. Elmer Reyes scored from third in the second after Fehlandt Lentini single and got in a run-down between first and second. However, a leadoff solo home run to right field by Jared Mitchell in the bottom of the frame tied the score at two.
The Ducks took the lead back in the fifth on a two-out RBI single to left by Marc Krauss off Revolution starter Curtis Partch. Two more runs in the sixth and seventh innings extended Long Island’s lead to 7-2. Elmer Reyes was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, Alex Burg scored on a double play ball, and Angelo Songco launched a two-run homer to right.
O’Grady (1-0) earned the win with five innings of two-run ball, allowing five hits and two walks while striking out five. Partch (0-2) suffered the loss, giving up three runs on seven hits and two walks over five innings with seven strikeouts. Patrick Crider, Jim Fuller, Zac Treece and David Aardsma each threw a scoreless inning of relief in the win.
Songco and Burg each totaled three hits to pace the Flock, with Songco driving in two runs and scoring twice. Krauss finished the day with two hits and two RBI.
The Ducks and Revolution wrap up their four-game set with the nightcap of Wednesday’s day/night twinbill. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. from PeoplesBank Park. Long Island returns home on Friday, May 5 to kick off a three-game series against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full season ticket holders). It will be a Fowl Pole Friday at the Duck Pond, and if a select Ducks player hits a home run off of one of the foul poles during the game, one lucky fan will win $50,000. In addition, a Blue Crabs player will be selected as the Pizza Hut K-Man of the game.
