Reyes and Ford collect two hits apiece in defeat

(Sugar Land, Texas, June 28, 2017) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Sugar Land Skeeters 3-0 on Wednesday night in the sixth game of a seven-game series at Constellation Field.

Sugar Land took a 1-0 lead in the third inning against Ducks starter Rafael Perez. Following a two-out walk to Anthony Giansanti, Travis Scott delivered an RBI single to left-center field. It stayed that way until the bottom of the sixth when the Skeeters added two more runs on an RBI double from Hector Olivera and a run-scoring single off the bat of Derek Miller.

Skeeters starter Jake Hale (5-2) earned the win with six scoreless innings, yielding just four hits while striking out three. Perez (5-3) took the loss, giving up three runs on nine hits and two walks with two strikeouts in five and one-third innings. Mark Haynes collected his third save with a scoreless ninth inning.

Elmer Reyes and Lew Ford each had two hits for the Flock.

The Ducks and Skeeters wrap up their seven-game set on Thursday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CDT from Constellation Field. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full season ticket holders). It’s a Fowl Pole Friday at the ballpark, and if a select Ducks player hits a home run off of either foul pole, one lucky fan will win $50,000. The Ducks will also be running their Pizza Hut K-Man promotion.
