GAME AUDIO: Highlights from Long Island’s third consecutive victory
Both teams exchanged zeroes until the top of the fourth when Adam Bailey’s RBI double to left-center off Riversharks starter Pedro Liriano put the Ducks on top 1-0. It stayed that way until the bottom of the seventh when Camden tied the game on a RBI double to left by Brian Van Kirk off Ducks starter Shaun Garceau.
Long Island immediately re-took the lead in the eighth on Cody Puckett’s RBI single through the left side. Camden had runners at first and second with no outs in the eighth inning and a runner at first with no outs in the ninth, but Eric Niesen and Jon Meloan, respectively, kept the ‘Sharks off the scoreboard.
Garceau (7-1) earned his Atlantic League leading seventh win of the year, tossing seven innings, allowing one run on three hits and five walks while striking out four. Liriano did not factor into the decision but allowed just one run on three hits while striking out three in seven innings. Former Duck T.J. Hose (2-3) took the loss, yielding a run on two hits and a walk in one inning of relief. Meloan picked up his sixth save with a scoreless ninth.
