(York, Pa., July 31, 2017) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the York Revolution 10-7 in 10 innings on Monday night in the opener of a three-game series at PeoplesBank Park.

GAME VIDEO: Highlights from the extra-inning victory

Long Island opened the scoring in the first inning on an RBI double by Marc Krauss off Revolution starter Victor Mateo. York answered in the bottom of the inning, as Telvin Nash lifted a three-out, three-run homer to right-center field off Ducks starter Matt Larkins.

The Ducks immediately tied the game at three in the second on back-to-back sacrifice flies from Giovanny Alfonzo and Dan Lyons. It stayed that way until the fifth, when a wild pitch from reliever Jared Gaynor scored Lyons from third to put the Ducks ahead 4-3. One inning later, an RBI double by Lyons and an RBI single by Delta Cleary Jr., both with two outs, extended the lead to three.

The Revolution answered right back in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game at six. With two outs, a bases loaded walk to Jared Mitchell and a two-run double by Isaias Tejeda evened the score. However, Mitchell was thrown out at the plate on the double to prevent York from taking the lead.

It remained 6-6 until the 10th inning when the Flock put together a two-out rally of their own to take the lead for good. Following a walk to Ruben Gotay and a single by Alex Burg, Alfonzo lined an RBI single to right, Lyons smoked an RBI double off the third base bag and Cleary Jr. laced a two-run single to center.

Ryan Dent brought the Revs to within three with a solo homer in the bottom of the 10th. However, York would get no closer.

Neither starter factored into the decision. Larkins pitched five innings of three-run ball, allowing eight hits and a walk with two strikeouts. Mateo lasted four and one-third innings, yielding four runs on seven hits and three walks. Amalio Diaz (3-3) picked up the win after pitching a scoreless ninth inning, striking out one. Luke Westphal (2-7) suffered the loss, surrendering four runs on four hits and a walk with two strikeouts in one inning of work.

Lyons and Cleary Jr. each had three hits and three RBI to lead the Flock, with Lyons scoring three times as well. Burg also had three hits and scored twice, while Alfonzo added two hits, two RBI and two runs scored.

The Ducks and Revolution continue their three-game set on Tuesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. from PeoplesBank Park. Fans can follow all the action on the Long Island Ducks Broadcast Network. Live streaming HD video and audio will be available via BoxCast on the Ducks’ official Facebook page, YouTube channel and at LIDucks.com. Left-hander Rafael Perez (6-6, 4.51) takes the mound for the Ducks against Revolution southpaw Frank Gailey (8-7, 4.56).
