(Lexington, Ky., Sept. 21, 2021) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the Lexington Legends 6-5 on Tuesday night in the opening game of a three-game series at Lexington Legends Ballpark.

The Ducks erupted for three runs in the opening inning against Legends starter J.J. Hoover. Vladimir Frias led off the game with a solo home run to center field, and both Hector Sanchez and Ramon Flores added RBI singles. Lexington grabbed their first run of the game in the bottom of the first on an RBI single to center by Denis Phipps off Ducks starter Matt Dallas. A two-out, two-run homer to left-center by Tillman Pugh in the second tied the game at three.

Deibinson Romero put the Ducks back in front with a leadoff solo homer down the left field line in the third. However, leadoff homers by Courtney Hawkins in the third and Pugh in the fourth put the Legends in front 5-4. Long Island went back ahead for good in the sixth on a two-out, two-run homer to left-center by Steve Lombardozzi.

Neither starter factored into the decision. Dallas pitched four innings, allowing five runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out five. Hoover lasted five innings, conceding four runs on eight hits and three walks with two strikeouts. Brendan Feldmann (7-4) earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief, allowing two walks while striking out three.
