Pitching powers Barnstormers to even the series

(Lancaster, Pa., June 15, 2013) – The Long Island Ducks lost to the Lancaster Barnstormers 3-1 on Saturday night in the middle game of a three-game series at Clipper Magazine Stadium.

Lancaster opened the scoring on a Blake Gailen sacrifice fly in the third inning. The Barnstormers added two more in the fifth inning on a RBI double by Kevin Howard and an Austin Gallagher RBI single. Ramon Castro knocked a RBI double to right field in the seventh inning for Long Island, but the Ducks would come no closer.

Barnstormers starter Will Savage (5-5) picked up the win, surrendering no runs on three hits in six innings of work. Ducks starter Bill Murphy (0-7) took the loss, giving up three runs, one earned, on six hits in five innings. Jason Urquidez picked up his tenth save with a perfect ninth inning.

Adam Bailey paced the Ducks with two hits, and Rian Kiniry drew two walks.

The Ducks wrap up their three-game set against the Lancaster Barnstormers Sunday afternoon. Game time of the rubber game is 1:30 from Clipper Magazine Stadium. The Ducks return to Bethpage Ballpark on Friday, June 21 to open a three-game weekend set with the Sugar Land Skeeters.
