Aaron Thompson’s seven scoreless innings help Skeeters take series
(Central Islip, N.Y., July 31, 2016) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Sugar Land Skeeters 4-1 on Sunday evening in the finale of a four-game series at Bethpage Ballpark.

All of Sugar Land’s runs came in the fourth inning against Ducks starter Bobby Blevins. RBI singles from Ricky Hague, Jeremy Barfield and Wilfredo Rodriguez, along with a run-scoring throwing error, did the damage.
Long Island got on the scoreboard in the eighth on a two-out RBI single to center field by Fehlandt Lentini. They loaded the bases in the ninth, but were unable to complete the comeback.
Skeeters starter Aaron Thompson (6-3) earned the win with seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits and two walks while striking out two. Blevins (1-6) took the loss, giving up four runs on seven hits and two walks in seven innings with five strikeouts. Derrick Loop collected his 22nd save with a scoreless ninth despite yielding two hits and a walk.
Sean Burroughs led the Flock with a pair of hits.
The Ducks hit the road on Tuesday to begin a three-game series against the Somerset Patriots. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. from TD Bank Ballpark. Long Island returns home on Monday, August 8 to open up a four-game series against the Patriots.
