Long Island took the early lead in the top of the fourth inning against Bluefish starter Hunter Jones. After consecutive base hits to open the inning, a RBI groundout from Brian Peacock and a fielding error by Bluefish shortstop Juan Martinez gave the Ducks a 2-0 lead.

After allowing a leadoff base hit in the bottom of the first inning, Ducks starter Shaun Garceau retired the next 14 Bluefish batters. That streak ended though in the sixth when a three-run homer from James Simmons gave the Bluefish a 3-2 lead.

It stayed that way until the eighth inning when Adam Bailey delivered a pinch hit RBI triple down the right field line to tie the game at three. Sergio Miranda followed with a go-ahead RBI double to right-center that put the Ducks on top 4-3. It marked the third consecutive game that the Ducks scored two runs in the eighth, and all three times, the Flock either tied the game or took the lead.

Garceau (1-1) earned the win, tossing seven innings, allowing three runs on six hits with four strikeouts. Jones did not factor into the decision but allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits with three walks and one strikeout over seven innings. Tim Gustafson (0-1) took the loss after yielding two runs on three hits in one inning of relief. Leo Rosales earned his seventh save of the year after securing the final four outs of the game.

Cody Puckett paced the Ducks with two hits to earn his team-leading eighth multi-hit game of the year.
