Ducks starter Joe Esposito and Revs starter Ryan Feierabend locked up in a scoreless duel until the bottom of the sixth inning. Ryan Garko’s RBI single to left scored Bryant Nelson to put Long Island in front 1-0. York answered back in the bottom of the eighth with two runs off reliever Jeremy Hill. A RBI single from James Shanks and a sacrifice fly to center off the bat of Ramon Castro did the damage.

However, the Flock rallied for four runs in their half of the eighth to jump in front 5-2. Brandon Sing tied the game with a solo homer to left, Lew Ford connected for a two-run triple to right-center to put Long Island ahead, and James McOwen added a RBI single to left to round out the scoring.

Neither starter factored into the decision. Esposito tossed six and one-third innings, including four and one-third no-hit innings to start the game, allowing just two hits and four walks while striking out five. Feierabend pitched six innings, yielding a run on four hits with four punch-outs. Hill (1-0) got the win despite allowing two runs in one and two-third innings, and Adam Thomas (0-1) suffered the loss, surrendering four runs in his one inning of work. Jon Meloan earned his third save of the year with a scoreless ninth, striking out Shanks with the bases loaded to end it.

Garko’s three hits led the way for Long Island, while Ford added two hits and two RBI.

The Ducks and Revolution continue their three-game series on Wednesday night. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35. Right-hander Bob Zimmermann takes the mound for Long Island against York lefty Chris Cody.
