Get involved with Long Island’s hometown team this season

(Central Islip, N.Y., Jan. 21, 2015) – The three-time Atlantic League champion Long Island Ducks are looking for members of the Long Island community who are interested in becoming host families for Ducks players during the 2015 baseball season.

Hosting a Duck offers a unique way to get involved with the club outside of Bethpage Ballpark. Bringing a player into your home will allow for an up-close and personal experience with a professional athlete, and relationships can be formed for years to come. Each season, both the players and the host families have unequivocally felt that it was a positive and exciting opportunity. Additional benefits include:

-On-field recognition before a game and take the field with your player
-Opportunity to watch a game from a luxury suite (20 tickets available)

“Any time you live with a host family, you often become part of that family,” said former Ducks pitcher Eric Niesen. “My experience with Dottie Stein of Islip Terrace was always welcoming and kind. Anyone who is willing to open their house and life to you is a blessing, and she did that for me.”

Becoming a host family with the Ducks is very simple! All that you need to provide is:

-A private bedroom for the player
-The use of a bathroom, washer/dryer and kitchen

Any other amenities that you are willing and able to provide will be greatly appreciated by your player and the team.

The Ducks are also seeking houses and apartments available to rent for players during the 2015 season (April-September). Landlords with available properties, along with families who would like to take part in the housing program, should contact Gerry Anderson by calling (631) 940-3825 ext. 114 or sending an e-mail to [email protected].

The Long Island Ducks are members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and play their home games at Bethpage Ballpark. For further information, call (631) 940-DUCK or visit www.liducks.com.
