(Lancaster, Penn., June 13, 2012) – The Long Island Ducks split a doubleheader with the Lancaster Barnstormers on Wednesday night, falling 4-3 in 10 innings in the opener while winning the second game 3-0 at Clipper Magazine Stadium.

In game one, the Barnstormers jumped out to a 3-0 lead on a RBI single in the first by Tommy Everidge and a two-run single in the second by Terry Tiffee. Long Island fought back to tie it on RBI singles from Dan Lyons in the third, Ray Navarrete in the sixth and Lyons again with two outs in the seventh.

It stayed that way until the bottom of the 10th when Blake Gailen hit a walk-off solo homer to right-center.

Neither starter factored in the decision. Randy Keisler yielded three runs on 12 hits with four strikeouts in five and two-thirds innings, and John Halama tossed five and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out three. Jason Urquidez (2-0) got the win, tossing one and one-third scoreless innings of relief, while Josh Lansford (0-1) took the loss after allowing the winning run.

In game two, the Ducks soared to a 3-0 advantage on a RBI single by Brandon Sing in the first and a pair of run-scoring errors by Tiffee in the third.

That was more than enough for Mike Loree (3-1) to earn the win, tossing six shutout innings, allowing just five hits while striking out six. J.D. Durbin (2-4) suffered the loss, surrendering three runs (one earned) on six hits and five walks in seven innings. Jon Meloan earned his 10th save of the year with a scoreless seventh.

The Ducks return home on Thursday to begin a four-game series against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35. It’s Health Night at the ballpark, and the first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive T-Shirts, courtesy of North Shore LIJ/Southside Hospital. Former Major Leaguer Dan Meyer gets the start for Long Island against Blue Crabs righty Deinys Suarez.
