The Ducks opened up their scoring with four runs in the third inning on Tuesday night against Blue Crabs starter Tim Sexton. RBI singles from Fehlandt Lentini and Cody Puckett, sandwiched around a two-run double by Delta Cleary Jr., highlighted the inning. Southern Maryland closed to within three in the fourth on Jamar Walton’s RBI single off Ducks starter Bobby Blevins.

Long Island extended their lead to 9-1 with five more runs in the fifth. Mike Dowd and Cleary Jr. picked up RBI singles, while Lentini laced a three-run double to left-center field. It stayed that way until the top of the seventh inning when, with one out and one on, a technical issue with the third base light tower suspended the completion of the game until Wednesday evening.

Upon resumption of the game, the Blue crabs squeaked out single runs in the eighth and ninth on an RBI double by Zach Wilson and an RBI single by D’Arby Myers. However, they would get no closer.

Blevins (2-8) earned the win, tossing six and one-third innings of one-run ball, allowing six hits and two walks while striking out five. Sexton (2-9) suffered the loss, surrendering nine runs on 12 hits and one walk with three strikeouts in six innings.

Lentini and Cleary Jr. each had three hits to pace the Flock. Lentini drove in four runs and scored twice, while Cleary Jr. added three RBI and a run.

The Ducks and Blue Crabs return to action on Wednesday night for the middle game of the three-game set. First pitch is scheduled for approximately 7:00, and the game is slated for seven innings. Right-hander John Brownell takes the mound for the Ducks against Blue Crabs southpaw Brian Burres. Those unable to make the game can follow all the action live on the Ducks’ official YouTube channel.
