Team pays visit to children in Long Island hospitals
(Central Islip, N.Y., Feb. 13, 2015) – On Thursday, February 12, the Long Island Ducks continued their commitment to the community by visiting patients who will be spending Valentine’s Day weekend in the pediatric units of local hospitals. Stops were made at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip and Stony Brook University Medical Center.

Among those visiting the hospitals were Long Island’s favorite mascot, QuackerJack, co-owner/coach Bud Harrelson, manager Kevin Baez, shortstop Dan Lyons, outfielder Bryan Sabatella and the Ducks Street Team. Each child received a Valentine’s Day card signed by QuackerJack along with a gift that was donated by fans earlier this winter during the team’s holiday toy drive.
The visits brought smiles to the faces of children and their parents at each location, with many posing for pictures, giving high fives and enjoying the early Valentine’s Day festivities. Several of the children even tried on Buddy’s World Series and Atlantic League championship rings. News 12 Long Island and Verizon FiOS1 News both stopped by Stony Brook University Medical Center to document the fun day.
