(Central Islip, N.Y., May 10, 2012) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the York Revolution 4-2 on Thursday evening in Game One of a doubleheader at Bethpage Ballpark.

Ryan Garko got the Ducks started with a two-run homer to right in the first off York starter Chris Cody. Dan Lyons added a RBI single to left in the second to score Reid Gorecki and increase the lead to three.

Both teams traded runs in the fourth, as Chris Nowak hit a sac fly to center off Bob Zimmermann and Lew Ford scurried home on a passed ball. A RBI single by Andres Perez in the sixth cut the deficit back to two, but it that was all the Revs could muster.

Zimmermann (2-0) earned the win, tossing six innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits with five strikeouts. Cody (0-3) took the loss, yielding four runs (three earned) on five hits and three walks.

Eight of the nine Ducks batters picked up hits. Garko’s two RBI led the way.

The Ducks and Revolution play the second game of their doubleheader tonight beginning approximately 30 minutes game one’s completion. Jason Monti gets the start for Long Island against York’s Omar Javier. Fans can follow the action live online at www.liducks.com by clicking the Watch Live icon on the homepage.
