New Britain took a 2-0 lead in the second inning on an RBI single by James McOwen and a sacrifice fly by Jake McGuiggan off Ducks starter Bobby Blevins. Single runs in the fourth and sixth extended the advantage to four. A pair of fielding errors scored McOwen and Greg Golson to account for the runs.
Long Island got on the scoreboard in the ninth courtesy of an RBI single to left field by Dan Lyons. However, they could not complete the comeback.
Bees starter Shawn Haviland (3-3) earned the win, tossing seven shutout innings, allowing six hits and one walk while striking out five. Blevins (1-5) took the loss, surrendering four runs (two earned) on 11 hits and one walk with four strikeouts in six innings.
Delta Cleary Jr. paced the Flock with three hits.
