(Staten Island, N.Y., May 14, 2023) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Staten Island FerryHawks 4-0 on Sunday afternoon in the rubber game of a three-game series at Staten Island University Hospital Community Park.

Staten Island opened the scoring in the first inning on a sacrifice fly to left-center field off the bat of Roldani Baldwin. A solo home run to right by Jack Elliott off Ducks starter Joe Iorio in the second extended the FerryHawks lead to 2-0. Cristian Santana’s sac fly to right in the sixth and Jeff Wehler’s run-scoring groundout to second in the seventh then made it a four-run game.

Capuano (2-0) earned the win, tossing six scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out 10. Iorio (1-2) took the loss, giving up two runs on seven hits and a walk over five innings.
