Long Island uses pair of four-run innings to pick up the win
(Waldorf, Md., August 29, 2015) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 10-4 on Saturday night in the third game of a four-game series at Regency Furniture Stadium.

Long Island started the scoring with four runs in the third off Blue Crabs starter Shaun Garceau, all with two outs. Randy Ruiz hit a two-run single to left before Cody Puckett’s RBI single and Anthony Vega’s walk with the bases loaded made it 4-0 Ducks. Four more runs would score in the fifth to put Long Island in front 8-0. Delta Cleary, Jr.’s two-run single highlighted the frame. Fehlandt Lentini also hit a RBI infield single and Steve McQuail was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to account for the other runs.
Southern Maryland scored their first runs in the eighth on Craig Maddox’s three-run homer off Ducks starter Bobby Blevins. Long Island posted two runs in the ninth on Lentini’s two-run double to left. In the bottom of the ninth, Ducks reliever Donnie Veal allowed a RBI double to Antone DeJesus before completing the win.
Blevins (3-4) picked up the win. He allowed three runs on eight hits in eight innings of work, walking none and striking out three. Garceau (4-4) was saddled with the loss, surrendering eight runs on six hits on four and two-thirds innings. He walked and struck out five. Veal allowed one run on two hits but struck out two in the ninth.
Eight of nine starters scored at least one run for Long Island. Lentini finished with three hits, including a double, three RBI, and one run scored.
Long Island concludes their four-game set with the Blue Crabs on Sunday afternoon. Game time is scheduled for 2:05 p.m. from Regency Furniture Stadium.
