An RBI single by Travis Scott in the first inning off Ducks starter Henderson Alvarez gave the Skeeters an early 1-0 lead. Alex Burg tied the game in the bottom of the second with a towering solo home run to left-center field off Sugar Land starter Brett Marshall.

Long Island took the lead in the fourth with a three-run, three-hit frame. A two-run homer to right by Marc Krauss and a sacrifice fly to right off the bat of Giovanny Alfonzo put the Flock ahead 4-1. Angelo Songco rounded out the scoring in the eighth with a two-run blast over the wall in right.

Alvarez did not factor into the decision. He pitched four innings, allowing one unearned run on four hits with a strikeout. Alfredo Simon (1-2) earned the win with three scoreless innings of relief, giving up just one hit while striking out four. Marshall (6-6) took the loss, yielding four runs on five hits and four walks over six innings with four strikeouts. Amalio Diaz and David Aardsma each pitched a scoreless inning of relief for the Ducks.

Krauss, Burg and Jordan Pacheco each had two hits to pace the Flock offensively.
