GAME AUDIO: Highlights from the nightcap of the doubleheader

The Ducks jumped out to a 2-0 lead in game one against Riversharks starter Zachary Clark on Cody Puckett’s RBI single to right field and a run-scoring double play ball off the bat of Jon Griffin. The Riversharks pulled to within a run in the third on Eddie Sorondo’s RBI double to center off of Ducks starter Mark Rogers.

Long Island opened up the game with a four-run fifth. Dan Lyons scored on an error, Bryan Sabatella scored on a wild pitch, and Jose Morales delivered a two-run single to highlight the frame. After Evan Crawford’s two-run homer in the bottom of the frame cut the lead to 6-3, the Ducks added three more in the sixth to push their advantage to six. Sabatella’s RBI single and Prentice Redman’s two-run double did the damage.

Rogers (2-3) collected the victory, tossing five innings, allowing three runs on three hits and three walks while striking out two. Clark (0-2) took the loss, surrendering six runs (five earned) on seven hits and five walks while striking out one in four and one-third innings. The Ducks bullpen tossed four scoreless innings of relief, allowing just two hits and two walks with five strikeouts.

Sabatella led the Flock with four hits and three runs, while Lyons added three hits and two runs. The win was Ducks manager Kevin Baez’s 300th of his five-year managerial career.

In game two, Griffin put the Ducks ahead in the first inning with a two-run home run to left field off of Riversharks starter Bill Murphy. A sacrifice fly by  Lyons in the second increased the lead to 3-0.

The Ducks blew the game open with a nine-run fourth inning to knock Murphy out of the game. Delta Cleary, Jr.’s two-run single, Griffin’s two-run double and four RBI singles highlighted the frame. Following Norberto Susini’s RBI single in the fourth, Puckett delivered a RBI single in seventh to cap the scoring for the Flock.

Barbosa (2-0) earned the win, tossing seven innings, allowing one unearned run on five hits and two walks while striking out 10. Murphy (1-5) suffered the loss, yielding 12 runs on 11 hits and four walks with two strikeouts in three and one-third innings. Frank DeJiulio, Jr. pitched two scoreless innings of relief to close out the game.

Cleary, Jr. led the Ducks with three hits, while Griffin drove in four runs and Lyons added three RBI.
