(Central Islip, N.Y., May 5, 2016) – The Long Island Ducks swept a doubleheader from the Lancaster Barnstormers on Thursday night at Bethpage Ballpark, winning game one 1-0 in walk-off fashion and taking game two 13-5.

Neither side plated a run in the first six innings game one. That changed in the bottom of the seventh when Sean Burroughs walked, Dan Lyons reach on a bunt single and Cody Puckett walked. That set the stage for Mike Blanke, who drew a bases loaded walk to plate the winning run.

Ducks reliever Todd Coffey (1-0) picked up the win after tossing a scoreless seventh inning. Barnstormers starter Bryan Evans (1-1) suffered the loss, yielding a run on two hits and three walks while striking out six over six innings. Ducks starter Bobby Blevins did not factor into the decision but pitched six scoreless innings, allowing just four hits with four strikeouts.

Long Island struck first in game two on a first inning sacrifice fly to center field by Delta Cleary Jr. off of Lancaster starter Brandon Bixler. Four more runs in the second ballooned the advantage to 5-0. Puckett’s RBI double, Mike Dowd’s RBI single and sacrifice flies from Matt Wessinger and Fehlandt Lentini did the damage.

The offense continued in the third with five more runs crossing home plate. RBI singles from Dowd and Cleary Jr. highlighted the frame. After the Ducks scored a run in the fifth, Lancaster plated three in the sixth on a three-run double by Kevin Ahrens off of Ducks starter Jack Snodgrass. However, a two-run double by Lentini in the bottom of the frame pushed the lead to 13-3.

Snodgrass (2-1) earned the win, tossing six innings, allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out seven. Bixler (0-2) took the loss, giving up five runs (four earned) on five hits in just one and one-third innings.

Puckett and Cleary Jr. each had three hits in the game. Lentini finished with three RBI and three runs, while Puckett and Dowd each scored three times.

The Ducks hit the road on Friday night to open a three-game series against the cross-sound rival Bridgeport Bluefish. Game time is slated for 7:12 p.m. from the Ballpark at Harbor Yard.
