(Staten Island, N.Y., Aug. 9, 2026) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the Staten Island FerryHawks 10-7 on Sunday afternoon in the rubber game of a three-game series at Staten Island University Hospital Community Park.
Long Island sent 11 batters to the plate in the top half of the first inning and scored seven runs off Staten Island starting pitcher Anthony Quattrocchi, highlighted by a 397-foot two-run home run to right field off the bat of Wilmer Difo, a Marcus Chiu run-scoring triple, RBI base hits from Henry Kusiak and Alsander Womack, a double steal of second by Terrell Tatum and home by Womack and a Kole Kaler RBI double.
The FerryHawks got a pair of runs back in the bottom of the frame versus Ducks starter Tanner Jacobson on a Kennys Vargas sacrifice fly to right and a Jacobson wild pitch. The Flock added a run in the sixth for an 8-2 cushion on Difo’s opposite-field RBI base knock to right. The visitors tacked on two more runs in the seventh on Womack’s sacrifice fly to left and an Oscar Hernandez RBI single. Staten Island cut the deficit to 10-6 after the fans stretched on RBI base hits from Gary Mattis, Blake Rutherford and Nick Decker and a wild pitch thrown by reliever Leonardo Taveras and added a run in the eighth on a throwing error by Rafael Kelly. The FerryHawks comeback would fall short as Ramon Santos struck out the side in the ninth for his team-leading 10th save of the season.
Jacobson (4-5) picked up the victory, giving up two runs on six hits in five innings pitched, walking two and striking out five. Quattrocchi (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing seven runs on five hits in two-thirds of an inning, walking and striking out a pair of batters.
Difo had two hits, three RBIs and a run scored. Chiu and Henry Kusiak each had a pair of hits, an RBI and two runs scored, while Womack chipped in with a single, two RBIs and a run scored.
Long Island returns home on Tuesday night to begin a six-game series with the Revolution. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Fairfield Properties Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full season ticket holders). It’s Jewish Heritage Night at the ballpark, presented by the Jewish Community Centers of Long Island, and following the game, all fans in attendance will be treated to a Fireworks Spectacular. It will also be a Pat’s Marketplace Tuesday and Triple Play Tuesday at the ballpark. Right-hander Ryan Cardona (3-2, 4.04) gets the start for the Ducks against Revolution lefty Julian Costa (6-2, 4.73).
