(Central Islip, N.Y., Aug. 16, 2026) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the York Revolution 5-1 on Sunday evening in the final game of a six-game series at Fairfield Properties Ballpark.
Long Island jumped out in front 1-0 in the bottom half of the first inning on Gavin Collins’ sacrifice fly to right field off York starting pitcher Brendan Yagesh. The Ducks made it 4-0 in their favor in the second courtesy of a 344-foot two-run home run to left off the bat of Jorge Bonifacio and an RBI single produced by Kole Kaler.
The Revolution got to within 4-1 in the seventh on Nick Dunn’s sacrifice fly to center. The Flock added an insurance run in the eighth for a 5-1 cushion on Bonifacio’s two-out run-scoring base knock. The visitors would get no closer as the bullpen quintet of Leonardo Tavares, Garrett Crowley, Jose Cruz, Sal Romano and Ramon Santos allowed just one unearned run across six innings to go along with five strikeouts, with Santos striking out the side in the ninth to close the game out.
In his Ducks debut, starter Clark Candiotti registered a no-decision as the right-hander fired three scoreless innings on two hits allowed, walking two and striking out one. Taveras (1-0) picked up his first victory in a Flock uniform after not allowing a run on a pair of hits in two innings of relief to go along with a walk and a strikeout. Yagesh (1-1) suffered the loss, surrendering four runs on six hits across five innings on the mound, walking two and striking out one.
Bonifacio had two hits, three RBIs and a run scored. While Marcus Chiu contributed with a pair of singles, a run scored and his 19th stolen base of the season.
