(York, Pa., Sept. 6, 2026) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the York Revolution 8-2 on Sunday afternoon in the final game of a six-game series at WellSpan Park.
Long Island jumped out in front 2-0 in the top half of the first inning on Aaron Antonini’s two-out, two-run double off the wall in right field against York starting pitcher Zach Mort. The Revolution cut the deficit to 2-1 in the second on Shed Long Jr.’s RBI base hit versus Ducks starter Anthony Escobar.
The Flock scored twice in the fourth for a 4-1 cushion thanks to Jorge Bonifacio’s leadoff 353-foot solo home run over the Arch Nemesis in left and Wilmer Difo’s run-scoring infield single. The visitors tacked on a pair of runs in the sixth for a 6-1 edge on Gavin Collins’ two-run single to the opposite-field in right. Long Island added two more runs onto the scoreboard in the seventh for an 8-2 edge thanks to RBI base knocks from Kole Kaler and Difo. Long Jr.’s leadoff solo home run to right in the seventh got the Revolution to within 8-2 in the seventh, but York would get no closer as the Ducks take four of six games played in the series to move into a tie for first place with the Revolution in the second half of the North Division Standings with six games remaining in the regular season.
Escobar (1-0) picked up the victory in his Ducks debut on the mound, tossing five innings of one-run ball and four hits to go along with a walk and a strikeout. Mort (2-1) was tagged with the loss, surrendering four runs on eight hits in five innings pitched, walking two and striking out six.
Antonini had two hits and a pair of RBIs. Terrell Tatum collected two hits, two runs scored and a stolen base. Difo notched his first four-hit game of the campaign to go along with two RBIs, a run scored and two stollen bases, and his two bags swiped now gives him 58 overall, a new Ducks single-season franchise record, surpassing Mel Stocker’s 56 back in 2006.
The Ducks begin the second and final leg of their season-long nine-game road trip on Monday night, when they open up a three-game series with the Staten Island FerryHawks. Long Island returns home on Friday, September 11, for their final homestand of the regular season as they begin a three-game weekend series against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs.
