Team to receive rings during pre-game ceremony on Opening Night, May 1

(Central Islip, N.Y., Jan. 28, 2020) – The Long Island Ducks, in conjunction with leading celebratory ring manufacturer Herff Jones, today unveiled the design for the team’s 2019 Atlantic League Championship Ring. The rings will be presented to players and coaches on Opening Night – Friday, May 1, 2020 – in a special pre-game ceremony.

“A championship ring should encapsulate the entire story of a team’s magical season,” said Ducks President/GM Michael Pfaff. “This ring celebrates all that was achieved, and we thank Herff Jones for their work in helping create this memento from our title season.”

The Ducks 2019 Atlantic League Championship Ring recognizes several team accomplishments and celebrates the successful history of the organization. It also honors the passionate support of the fan base since the gates opened for the first time in April of 2000.

The top of the ring features the traditional Ducks crest in orange color situated around a litany of gemstones. Gems also vertically align the left and right side of the ring top, with the words “ATLANTIC LEAGUE” across the top and “CHAMPIONS” along the bottom. One of the highlights is four emerald-colored gems outlining the bases of a baseball diamond, signifying the Ducks four consecutive Liberty Division championships from 2016-2019. No other team in Atlantic League history has ever won four straight division titles.

The left shank of the ring pays tribute to the four Atlantic League championships the Ducks have won in their history. The top of the shank details the previous titles won in 2004, 2012 and 2013. Atop Herff Jones’ classic antiquing finish is the year “2019” as well as four Atlantic League championship trophies, each featuring a gemstone. Beneath the trophies, the ring features the record of “92-56” which signifies the number of wins and losses the Ducks accrued during the 2019 regular season and playoffs. The 92 victories are a franchise single-season record.

The right shank features the recognizable 20th Anniversary Logo that was present on the team’s commemorative teal jerseys as well as team marketing and promotional materials throughout the 2019 season. The top of the shank also notes that this is the team’s fourth Atlantic League championship won. Above the 20th Anniversary Logo is the last name of person receiving the ring. Below the logo will be the player’s number or position they held with the organization.

On the inside of the ring, special engraving can be found. Long Island’s playoff series results have been included as an added touch, signifying the Ducks 3-0 Liberty Division Championship Series win over the High Point Rockers and 3-2 Atlantic League Championship Series victory over the Sugar Land Skeeters. Finally, the palm side of the ring features engraving detail commemorating the 8 Millionth Fan entering through the gates of Bethpage Ballpark in 2019. No other Atlantic League team has yet to reach that attendance milestone. This marks the first time the Ducks have featured palm side engraving on a championship ring.

These 2019 Atlantic League Championship Rings will be presented to members of the team in custom wood boxes with engraved names on Friday, May 1, 2020, when the Ducks host Opening Night at Bethpage Ballpark. Prior to the team’s 6:35 p.m. game against the Lancaster Barnstormers, the team will host an on-field ceremony to recap the championship season, hand out the rings and raise the championship banner. Fans are encouraged to arrive early on May 1 to enjoy all the festivities, with ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full season ticket holders). Further details regarding Opening Night will be announced soon.
