Team hands out cards at Long Island hospitals
(Central Islip, N.Y., Feb. 12, 2016) – On Friday, February 12, the Long Island Ducks continued their commitment to the community by visiting patients who were spending Valentine’s Day weekend in the pediatric units of local hospitals. Stops were made at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip and Stony Brook University Medical Center.

Among those visiting the hospitals were Long Island’s favorite mascot, QuackerJack, co-owner/coach Bud Harrelson, manager Kevin Baez, pitcher Bruce Kern and the Ducks Street Team. Each child received a Valentine’s Day card signed by QuackerJack along with special gifts that the hospitals had for them.
The visits brought smiles to the faces of children and their parents at each location, with many posing for pictures, giving high fives and enjoying the early Valentine’s Day festivities. Several of the children even tried on Buddy’s 1986 World Series ring.
The Long Island Ducks are members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and play their home games at Bethpage Ballpark. For further information, call (631) 940-DUCK or visit www.liducks.com.
