(Central Islip, N.Y., June 11, 2024) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the York Revolution 6-5 in 11 innings on Tuesday night in the opener of a three-game series at Fairfield Properties Ballpark.

Donovan Casey’s solo home run to center field off Ducks starter Daniel Corcino in the first inning gave York an early 1-0 lead. Kobe Kato’s solo homer to right and Casey’s sac fly to left-center in the third made it 3-0 Revolution. However, Tyler Dearden launched a three-run home run to right field off Revolution starter Michael Horrell in the bottom of the frame to tie the game at three.

Matt McDermott put York back on top with a solo homer to left in the fifth, but Ryan McBroom’s RBI single to left in the bottom of the inning evened the score at four. It stayed that way until the top of the 10th when York jumped in front 5-4 on a two-out wild pitch that plated Ciaran Devenney. Chance Sisco responded with an RBI single in the bottom of the 10th, tying the game back up at five.

Long Island won the game in the bottom of the 11th. JC Encarnacion reached on a fielder’s choice, stole second and scored on an RBI single to left field by Scott Kelly.

Neither starter factored into the decision. Corcino lasted five innings, giving up four runs (three earned) on six hits while striking out three. Horrell pitched five innings as well, conceding four runs on nine hits and a walk with five strikeouts. Miguel Guerrero (1-0) picked up the win after tossing a scoreless 11th inning, walking one and striking out one. Tom Sutera (1-1) took the loss, conceding two runs (one earned) on three hits in one and one-third innings.

Manuel Geraldo led the Ducks offensively with four hits and two runs. Dearden added two hits, three RBIs, two runs and a walk., while Alex McGarry picked up two hits.

The Ducks and Revolution continue their three-game set on Wednesday night. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Fairfield Properties Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full season ticket holders). Left-hander Mike Montgomery (1-1, 3.86) takes the mound for the Ducks against Revolution southpaw Ethan Lindow (2-3, 8.07).
