(Central Islip, N.Y., Aug. 30, 2026) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the Hagerstown Flying Boxcars 7-1 on Sunday night in the final game of a six-game at Fairfield Properties Ballpark.
The Ducks sent 11 batters to the plate in the bottom half of the first inning and scored five runs against Flying Boxcars starting pitcher Nic Shutte, highlighted by an RBI off the bat of Henry Kusiak that came by way of a fielding error on a ground ball hit to shortstop Jordan Peyton, a bases-clearing three-run double produced by Terrell Tatum and a run-scoring single courtesy of Alsander Womack.
Hagerstown cut the deficit to 5-1 in the second on Leobaldo Cabrera’s leadoff solo home run to left center field versus Long Island starter Nick Margevicius. The Flock regained a five-run advantage at 6-1 in the sixth on Jorge Bonifacio’s 382-foot leadoff solo blast to left, his third big fly in the last two games and fourth tater in the series. The Ducks added a run in the eighth for a 7-1 cushion on Jacob Robson’s RBI base knock.
Margevicius (4-2) picked up the victory as the left-hander allowed just one run on five hits along with eight-strikeouts across seven innings pitched to notch his fourth quality start of the campaign. Schutte (1-3) suffered the loss, surrendering six runs (two earned) on five hits in six innings on the mound, walking three while striking out five.
Tatum led the way offensively with a pair of extra-base hits, three RBIs and two runs scored. Womack tallied three hits and an RBI en route to the victory.
The Ducks hit the road on Tuesday, September 1, to begin a six-game series with the York Revolution. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at WellSpan Park. Long Island returns home on Friday, September 11, for their final homestand of the regular season as they begin a three-game weekend series against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs.
