The Bluefish would strike first with a two-run home run by Brock Peterson in the opening inning off Ducks starter Nick Singleton. The Ducks answered right back in the bottom half of the first on a RBI double by Ray Navarrete off Bluefish starter Brad Thompson to cut the deficit in half.

Long Island would hang a three spot in the second inning to take a 4-2 lead, with a solo home run by Mitch Canham, a RBI double by Timo Perez and a run-scoring single by Navarrete doing the damage. However, Bridgeport tied it up in the fifth on a RBI double by James Simmons and a run-scoring groundout off the bat of Eddie Rogers. A run in the seventh on an error at third base gave the ‘Fish a lead they would never relinquish.

Thompson (2-0) picked up the win despite allowing 11 hits and four runs in six and one-third innings of work. Singleton (3-4) was saddled with the loss, tossing seven innings, allowing five hits on five runs (four earned) with seven strikeouts. Juan Rincon picked up his seventh save with a scoreless ninth.

Reid Gorecki, Navarrete and Canham paced the Ducks with three hits apiece at the plate.
