Offense explodes late for 13-0 win over Black Sox

(Central Islip, N.Y., April 18, 2017) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the Long Island Black Sox 13-0 on Tuesday afternoon in the team’s final spring training game of the year at Bethpage Ballpark.

Both sides traded zeroes over the first five innings before the Ducks broke through in the bottom of the sixth. RBI doubles from Nolan Reimold and Nate Freiman, along with an RBI single by Angelo Songco, put Long Island ahead 3-0.

The Ducks then broke the game open with a six-run seventh inning. RBI singles from Reimold, Freiman and Elmer Reyes highlighted the scoring. Four more runs in the eighth capped off the afternoon for the Flock. A run-scoring double play ball, an RBI double by Cody Puckett and a two-run double from Nate Irving did the damage.

Tim Melville started on the mound for the Ducks and threw two innings, yielding one hit and one walk while striking out five. Patrick Crider, Rob Rogers, Tyler Levine and Tyler Wilson all appeared in relief for Long Island. They combined to allow just two hits and three walks with six strikeouts. Fehlandt

Lentini led the Flock with four hits, coming just a home run shy of the cycle. Reimold, Freiman and Puckett each added two hits, with Reimold, Freiman and Irving each driving in two runs.
