Voting for “Best of Long Island” awards ends December 15
(Central Islip, N.Y., Dec. 9, 2013) – Time is running out to cast your ballots for the Long Island Ducks in this year’s Long Island Press “Best of Long Island” awards, presented by Bethpage Federal Credit Union. The Ducks have once again been nominated in several categories. Simply CLICK HERE to visit the “Best of Long Island” page, where you can cast your vote today!
For a sixth consecutive year, the Ducks have been given their own category: Best Long Island Duck. Should the award go to Lew Ford, who led the Flock with a .412 batting average during the postseason? How about Ray Navarrete, who in the final game of his professional career hit a go-ahead three-run homer to help lead the Ducks to a championship-clinching victory over Somerset? Several members of the Flock are nominated in this category, so choose your favorite!
In addition, Long Island’s favorite mascot, QuackerJack, will look to defend his title as Best Long Island Mascot. Whether leading the fans in a “Let’s Go Ducks” chant or racing a young fan around the bases, QuackerJack is always putting smiles on the faces of Long Islanders! New for 2014, Buddy Harrelson has been nominated in the Best Long Island Personality category. The baseball legend’s infectious smile and charitable service to the community are always welcome sights throughout Long Island.
The Ducks have also been nominated for a third consecutive season for Best Long Island Based Website. Interactive capabilities, social media components and a state-of-the-art look and feel are all available for fans to enjoy when visiting www.liducks.com. Finally, the Ducks were nominated this year for Best Hot Dog and Best Soft Pretzel. Delicious Hebrew National hot dogs and delectable soft pretzels from J & J Snacks are always sought after treats among Ducks fans throughout the baseball season.
Remember, voting runs through Sunday, Dec. 15 at 11:59 p.m., so be sure to show your support for the Ducks before time runs out!
The Long Island Ducks are members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and play their home games at Bethpage Ballpark. For further information, call (631) 940-DUCK or visit www.liducks.com.
