Southpaw fires eight scoreless innings for second time this week

(Bridgewater, N.J., May 18, 2018) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Somerset Patriots 1-0 on Friday night in the opener of a three-game series at TD Bank Ballpark.

Jake Fisher was superb on the mound once again for the Ducks. The left-hand tossed eight scoreless innings for a second consecutive start, yielding just four hits and no walks while striking out four. He threw 99 pitches on the night, 70 of which were strikes, and now has thrown 16 straight shutout innings. Patriots starter Kyle Davies did not factor into the decision but pitched three scoreless and hitless innings, allowing one walk while striking out one.

Neither side was able to manufacture any offense until the bottom of the ninth inning. Following back-to-back walks by Adam Weisenburger and Julio Borbon, a sac bunt by Endy Chavez and an intentional walk to Justin Trapp, Aaron Dudley hit a fly ball to left that was misplayed. The sac fly/error allowed pinch-runner Justin Pacchioli to score the winning run.

Ryan Kelly (1-0) collected the win after pitching a perfect ninth inning, striking out two. Ashur Tolliver (0-1) suffered the loss, yielding the winning run on three walks in one-third of an inning.

Lew Ford led the Flock offensively with two hits.
