(Central Islip, N.Y., April 4, 2022) – The Long Island Ducks today announced the signing of left-handed pitcher Tyler Webb. The five-year MLB veteran begins his first season with the Ducks and 10th in professional baseball.

“We are very excited to add Tyler to our pitching staff,” said Ducks President/GM Michael Pfaff. “He has excelled all the way up to the game’s highest level, and we look forward to helping him in his quest to get back to the Major Leagues.”

Webb spent parts of five seasons in the Major Leagues, pitching for the New York Yankees (2017), Milwaukee Brewers (2017), San Diego Padres (2018) and St. Louis Cardinals (2018-21). He combined to make 139 relief appearances, posting a 3-3 record with a 4.97 ERA, two saves, 104 strikeouts and 63 walks over 121.1 innings of work. He made his MLB debut on June 24, 2017, at Yankee Stadium, tossing one and one-third scoreless innings of relief. The 31-year-old also pitched in six postseason games, all with the Cardinals, yielding four runs (three earned) while striking out five over four innings of work.

The Virginia native compiled an impressive 1.76 ERA in 18 games with the Cardinals in 2018 and a 2.08 ERA in 21 games with St. Louis in 2020. In addition to his MLB time, Webb made 18 appearances with Triple-A Memphis in 2021. He has pitched in 220 minor league games (six starts) in his career, compiling a 3.58 ERA, 19 saves and 415 strikeouts to just 102 walks over 334.2 innings. The southpaw was named an Eastern League Mid-Season All-Star in 2014 with Double-A Trenton in the Yankees organization. Webb was originally selected by the Yankees in the 10th round of the 2013 amateur draft out of the University of South Carolina.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to join the Ducks,” said Webb. “I’m looking forward to getting back on the mound and helping the team win any way I can.”
