Long Island took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning off Blue Crabs starting pitcher Daryl Thompson. A two-run double from Bill Hall and a RBI single from Brandon Bantz did the damage.

Southern Maryland trimmed the deficit to two in the bottom of the second on a C.J. Ziegler solo home run off Ducks starting pitcher Shaun Garceau.

The Ducks added to their lead in the fifth on a pair of two-out RBI base-hits from Bantz and Joash Brodin. Cody Puckett then increased the lead to 6-1 in the seventh with a solo home to left-center before a run-scoring passed ball and RBI single from Adam Bailey in the eighth extended the lead to 8-1.

The Blue Crabs responded with three runs in the bottom of the eighth on a RBI single from Jake Opitz and a pair of bases-loaded walks drawn by C.J. Ziegler and Jamar Walton, but they would get no closer.

Garceau (9-3) picked up the win, allowing one run on five hits while striking out five over six innings of work. Thompson (3-4) took the loss, yielding four runs over four and one-third innings on six hits and three walks with four strikeouts.

Bailey and Bantz led the Flock with three hits apiece, while three other Ducks contributed with two hits.
