The Ducks wasted no time, scoring in the top of the first inning after Rey Fuentes lifted a two-run home run to right. Long Island increased their lead with a solo home run from Hector Sanchez in the third, bringing the score to 3-0.
The Rockers finally got on the board in the fourth inning, putting up two runs thanks to an RBI double from Quincy Latimore and a sacrifice fly to center by Richie Shaffer. High Point then took a 4-3 lead in the fifth when Hector Gomez lined a two-run double to left.
However, their lead would not last long as Clint Freeman drilled a bases clearing double, allowing Long Island to reclaim the lead at 6-4.
