(York, Pa., July 14, 2018) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the 13-4 York Revolution on Saturday night in the middle game of a three-game series at PeoplesBank Park.
The Ducks took a 1-0 lead in the first when Jordany Valdespin scored on a groundout to shortstop by Travis Snider. Long Island then opened a nine-run advantage with eight runs in the third inning off Revolution starter Dominic Severino. RBI singles by Valdespin and Taylor Ard, a two-run triple to right field by Lew Ford and a two-run single to center by Daniel Fields highlighted the inning.
York closed the gap to 9-4 with a run in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the sixth against Ducks starter John Brownell. Welington Dotel’s solo homer to right-center, Jared Mitchell’s RBI double, a run-scoring infield single by Alexi Casilla and Zach Wilson’s RBI double did the damage. However, a four-run eighth inning restored Long Island’s nine-run advantage at 13-4. Snider’s two-run double down the left field line and Ford’s two-run homer to right-center rounded out the scoring.
Brownell (5-7) picked up the win, tossing six innings and allowing four runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out five. Dominic Severino (4-5) took the loss, conceding nine runs (six earned) on nine hits over two and two-thirds innings with three strikeouts. Wander Perez, Dennis O’Grady and Colton Murray each tossed a perfect inning of relief, with Murray striking out the side in the ninth.
Valdespin led the Flock with three hits and three runs scored. Ford added two hits, four RBIs and two runs, while Snider drove in three runs.
