New Britain opened the scoring in the first inning on a three-run home run to right field by Craig Maddox off Ducks starter Keith Couch. It stayed that way until the bottom of the seventh when the Ducks struck for four runs to take a 4-3 lead. A two-run double by Elmer Reyes, an RBI single by Delta Cleary Jr. and a sacrifice fly off the bat of Marc Krauss highlighted the scoring.

Neither starter factored into the decision. Couch pitched four innings, giving up three runs on three hits and a walk with five strikeouts. Bees starter Jonathan Pettibone tossed five scoreless innings, yielding just four hits. Zac Treece (1-1) earned the win with three scoreless innings of relief, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out one. Kyle Simon (1-1) took the loss, surrendering four runs on four hits and two walks while striking out two in two innings. David Aardsma picked up his first save of the year with a perfect ninth, striking out two.

Reyes and Nolan Reimold led the Flock with two hits apiece.
