Bailey first inning grand slam not enough for Long Island

(York, Penn., August 10, 2014) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the York Revolution 5-4 on Sunday evening in the middle game of a three-game series at Santander Stadium.

Long Island grabbed a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a grand slam from Adam Bailey off Revolution starter Alain Quijano.

York trimmed the deficit to three in the bottom of the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly from Alberto Espinosa off Ducks starter Jared Lansford. The Revs then took the lead in the bottom of the seventh on a two-out, two-run single from Travis Garcia and a two-out, two-run home run from Chad Tracy.

Quijano (9-6) earned the win, yielding four runs over seven innings on five hits and two walks with two strikeouts. Lansford received a no-decision, allowing four runs on nine hits and one walk with one strikeout over six and two-thirds innings. Josh Lansford (5-3) took the loss, allowing one run in one-third of an inning of relief. Rommie Lewis earned his 27th save of the year with a scoreless ninth inning.

Five different Ducks batters recorded a hit, while Bailey led the way with four runs batted in.

Long Island will conclude its three-game series against the York Revolution Monday. Game time is slated for 6:30 p.m. from Santander Stadium. Right-hander Shaun Garceau takes the mound for the Ducks against Revolution righty Jorge Martinez. Long Island will return home on Tuesday, August 12 to kick off a six-game homestand with the opener of a three-game series against the Sugar Land Skeeters.
