Long Island wins three of four in Bridgeport

(Bridgeport, Conn., June 26, 2016) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the Bridgeport Bluefish 4-0 on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a four-game series at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard.

Ruben Gotay’s solo home run in the top of the seventh inning erased a scoreless tie, giving the Ducks a 1-0 lead. Gotay added two more RBIs in the ninth with a double. Anthony Vega’s RBI single, to make it 4-0, rounded out the scoring for the Ducks.

Mark Blackmar (5-2) struck out seven over seven innings, yielding four hits in the win. Bridgeport’s Blake Beavan (3-2) took the loss, allowing one run on six hits in six innings. He struck out six and walked one.

Delta Cleary Jr., Cody Puckett, and Dan Johnson each had two hits. Relievers Eury De La Rosa and Frank DeJiulio Jr. each pitched a scoreless inning with one strikeout.

Long Island returns home on Monday, June 27 to open a four-game set against the York Revolution. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full season ticket holders). It’s the 10th Annual Health Night at the ballpark, presented by Northwell Health, and the first 3,000 fans in attendance will receive Commemorative T-Shirts.
