Ducks sign Major League veteran Bill Hall

(Central Islip, N.Y., July 18, 2014) – The Long Island Ducks today announced the signing of infielder Bill Hall. The former big leaguer returns for his second season with the Ducks and in the Atlantic League.

“Bill adds a power bat and veteran presence to our lineup,” says Ducks president and general manager Michael Pfaff. “He was an important piece of our championship team in 2013, and we look forward to having him back again this season.”

Hall joined the Flock in June of 2013 and played in 91 regular season games. He finished the year with 16 home runs and 45 walks, both of which led the Flock, and compiled 63 RBI, good for second on the team. The Mississippi native also added 46 runs and 18 doubles. In the playoffs, Hall batted .290 with five doubles, one homer, one RBI, eight runs and six walks, helping the Ducks to the 2013 Atlantic League championship.

The 34-year-old is a veteran of 11 seasons at the Major League level, spending time with six teams (Brewers, Mariners, Red Sox, Astros, Giants and Orioles). He has a .248 batting average in 1,054 career games with 125 homers, 440 RBI, 210 doubles and 21 triples. His best season came in 2006 with the Brewers when he batted .270 with 35 home runs, 85 RBI, 101 runs and 39 doubles in 148 games. Hall was originally drafted by Brewers in the sixth round of the 1998 amateur draft.
