Righty tosses six strong innings to earn second win in as many starts with Flock

(Central Islip, N.Y., July 13, 2021) –
The Long Island Ducks defeated the West Virginia Power 6-1 on Tuesday night in the opener of a three-game series at Fairfield Properties Ballpark.

The Ducks got on the scoreboard first, courtesy of a sacrifice fly from Lew Ford and an RBI single by L.J. Mazzilli in the first inning off Power starter Joe Harris. Rymer Liriano closed the gap to 2-1 in the fourth on a solo home run to left field off Ducks starter Scott Harkin. However, the Ducks got the run back in the sixth when Mazzilli scored on a wild pitch.

Long Island extended their advantage to 6-1 in the eighth with a three-run frame. Steve Lombardozzi scored on a passed ball, and both Hector Sanchez and Daniel Fields picked up RBI singles.

Harkin (2-0) earned the win, tossing six innings of one-run ball, allowing just two hits and one walk while striking out five. Harris (0-1) took the loss, giving up two runs on two hits and three walks over five innings with one strikeout. Brady Dragmire, Mike Bolsinger and Danny Barnes combined to pitch three scoreless innings in relief for the Ducks.

Ford led the Flock offensively with two hits, an RBI and a run scored. Sal Giardina added two hits, a run and a walk.
