Barnstormers take game one of day/night doubleheader

(Central Islip, N.Y., May 27, 2017) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Lancaster Barnstormers 6-4 in a seven-inning game on Saturday afternoon in game one of a day/night doubleheader at Bethpage Ballpark.

GAME VIDEO: Delta Cleary Jr. and Angelo Songco each drive in two runs

Delta Cleary Jr. put the Ducks ahead early with a first-inning RBI single to center field off of Barnstormers starter and former Duck Jarret Leverett. The Barnstormers responded with two runs in the second inning on a leadoff solo home run by K.C. Hobson and an RBI single by Vladimir Frias off of Ducks starter Dennis O’Grady. An RBI double by Garrett Weber in the third increased Lancaster’s lead to 3-1.

Long Island took the lead back in the bottom of the third on another RBI single by Cleary Jr. and a colossal two-run home run to right by Angelo Songco. However, a two-out, three-run homer to right in the fourth from Hobson put the Barnstormers back ahead for good at 6-4.

Leverett (2-0) picked up the win, allowing four runs in five innings on six hits and two walks while striking out six. O’Grady (1-2) took the loss, giving up six runs on nine hits and three walks in four innings with one strikeout. Anthony Carter collected his seventh save with a scoreless seventh, striking out two.

Cleary Jr. led the Flock with two hits and two RBI.
