Join the team and bring a Ducks player home

(Central Islip, N.Y., Feb. 20, 2013) – The Long Island Ducks are now seeking members of the Long Island community that are interested in becoming host families for Ducks players during the 2013 baseball season.

Hosting a player provides a unique opportunity to get involved with Long Island’s hometown team on a personal level. Players will often become an “adopted member of your family” during their time on Long Island and beyond, staying in touch with their host families for years to come. Each season, hosting a player has been a positive experience for both the players and the families.

“Every player I have hosted has been completely respectful, helpful and friendly,” said Nancy Haas of Kings Park, whose family has hosted players for the last eight seasons. “They are truly a part of the family, and that’s how we treat them.”

The Ducks make the requirements to be a host family very simple. If you can provide a private bedroom along with use of a bathroom, washer/dryer and kitchen for a Long Island Duck, then you can be a host. Any other amenities that you are willing and able to provide will be greatly appreciated by your player.
