Team seeking host families and available housing for rent
(Central Islip, N.Y., Jan. 23, 2014) – The Long Island Ducks are now seeking members of the Long Island community that are interested in becoming host families for Ducks players during the 2014 baseball season.
Hosting a player provides a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get involved with Long Island’s hometown team off the field. During their time with the Flock, players often develop a wonderful relationship with their host family and build bonds that can last beyond the season’s conclusion. Serving as a host family has been a positive experience for both the families and the players every year.
“Any time you live with a host family, you often become part of that family,” said former Ducks pitcher Eric Niesen. “My experience with Dottie Stein of Islip Terrace was always welcoming and kind. Anyone who is willing to open their house and life to you is a blessing, and she did that for me.”
The requirements to be a host family with the Ducks are very simple. If you can provide a private bedroom along with use of a bathroom, washer/dryer and kitchen, then you can be a host. Any other amenities that you are willing and able to provide will be greatly appreciated by your player.
The Long Island Ducks are also seeking houses and/or apartments available for rent to house players during the 2014 season (April-September). Landlords with available properties who are interested, along with families who would like to take part in the Long Island Ducks housing program, should contact Gerry Anderson at 631-940-3825 ext. 114 or send an e-mail to [email protected].
The Long Island Ducks are members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and play their home games at Bethpage Ballpark. For further information, call (631) 940-DUCK or visit www.liducks.com.
